The SCORES Program makes a difference!
Children who grow up in the inner-city often face the challenges of poverty, violent crime, and underperforming schools; which puts students at-risk for dropping out of high school and not living up to their potential.
Through soccer, poetry, and service-learning programming, SCORES poet-athletes are provided access to a safe learning environment, caring adult role models, vigorous physical activity, and academic enrichment – vital components of a child’s academic, physical, and social development.
As a result, the SCORES Program inspires urban youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
Founded in 1999, America SCORES Boston has expanded to now serve over 1,100 students at 25 schools in the Boston Public Schools District.
America SCORES Boston partners with the following schools throughout Boston:
Elementary Schools: Jackson-Mann in Allston; Marshall, Mather and Clap Innovation School in Dorchester; McKay and PJ Kennedy in East Boston; Grew in Hyde Park; Hennigan and JF Kennedy in Jamaica Plain; Mattahunt and Mildred Ave in Mattapan; and Orchard Gardens in Roxbury. Middle Schools: Edison in Brighton; Edwards in Charlestown; Frederick in Dorchester; Umana Barnes and McKay in East Boston; Roosevelt and Rogers in Hyde Park; Irving in Roslindale; and Dearborn and Orchard Gardens in Roxbury.
Join the Team! "Adopt" an America SCORES Boston School
These community partners and individuals have generously contributed to America SCORES Boston as part of our "Adopt-A-School" program:
Edwards Middle School, Charlestown (McGaughey Family)
Roosevelt Middle School, Hyde Park (Shaw's)
Grew Elementary School, Hyde Park (Advent International)
The "Adopt-A-School" program brings America SCORES Boston to a specific school in the Boston Public Schools District and provides contributers with the opportunity to remain connected with that school through volunteer opportunities, program updates, and a school microsite.
